Odíhg Li̊shlom (/li̘ʃ/ /lom/ [bracket] [firm; solid]) is a subtropical Large Town located in Woodgold Dutchy, Gàdāwù Provence, within the Dalandic Empire.

The name Odíhg Li̊shlom is derived from the Tauric language, as Odíhg Li̊shlom was founded by Feiror Merwin, who was culturaly Tauric.

Climate

Odíhg Li̊shlom has a yearly average temperature of 26°C (78°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a warm 29°C (84°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a pleasant 23°C (73°F). Odíhg Li̊shlom receives an average of 231 cm/y (90 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the summer. Odíhg Li̊shlom covers an area of nearly 7 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 4736 m (15538 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Odíhg Li̊shlom was founded durring the early 15th century in summer of the year 1426, by Feiror Merwin. The establishment of the new community went well, though many minor issues had to be solved as time went on. This was enough to delay construction and push back the formal opening ceramony, leading to some embarisment for Feiror Merwin.

Odíhg Li̊shlom was built using the conventions of Tauric durring the early 15th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Odíhg Li̊shlom is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature timber and earth construction, with most buildigns first floors resembling mounds of earth, with subsequent floors appearing as elaborate log cabins, with each building forming a tiered pyramid of sorts fromed from the stack of rectangular, peek roofed cabins. Most wooden bracing, support, and trim is carved with decorative knotwork, and the larger structures even feature painted trim which emphasises the knotwork.

Odíhg Li̊shlom is buildings are arranged arround a network of broad cobblestone streets which form a diamond shaped grid, where each diamond verries in size given the proximity of the paralell streets forming each section. The ocasional smaller diamond has been used to construct a park, plaza, and other communal structures. The town posesses a fortified albit thin wall of querried stone. This wall posesses most of the features of a castle wall, though it is constructed from cheeper inferior stone. It would pose a minor chalange for an attacking army, though it's clear the wall's true purpose is to crush the hopes of bandits and marauders. The town's failry decent fortifications are visibly old, but also obviously maintained semi-regularly. Its likly the local malishia or garrison are tasked with ocasional mantance of the towns defences.

Odíhg Li̊shlom seems to be abandoned at first. There are people present, working their trades and going about their business like any community, it’s just they are absurdly quiet. Just as you start to think there might be trouble, you see most of them are smiling, quietly exchanging words with a friend, or simply enjoying the day as they work. It reminds you of an evening at home as everyone dined, having run out of things to talk about and embraced the savory meal before them.

Civic Infrastructure

Odíhg Li̊shlom has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within Odíhg Li̊shlom. They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for Odíhg Li̊shlom's parks.

Odíhg Li̊shlom possesses an older civil lighting system consisting of street lamps. These lights provide nighttime illumination to most city streets.

Odíhg Li̊shlom has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Odíhg Li̊shlom's natural decorations nor waterways.

Odíhg Li̊shlom has a Guild of Roadworkers, who are responsible for maintaining the roadways and public paths within town. They also have the duty of enforcing all civil laws relating to the roadways.

Odíhg Li̊shlom has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Odíhg Li̊shlom has a public septic system, which allows its citizens to have indoor bathrooms. The septic system is overseen by the League of Sewerkeepers, who posses the legal authority to enforce all laws relating to the septic system, and are also tasked with its maintenance and upkeep.

Cultural Notes

Odíhg Li̊shlom's mayor's house was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used which employed abundant symbolic geometry, using pure forms such as the circle and square, and plans are based on often symmetrical layouts featuring rectangular courtyards and halls. These structures were is decorated with carved stone or stucco reliefs and made use of colorful stone mosaics..

Odíhg Li̊shlom's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in autumn and involves reenactments to channel Necromancy energies of tier 2 via singing.

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the early 2nd century a great storm brought so much rain to Odíhg Li̊shlom. The resulting flood was isolated to the area around Odíhg Li̊shlom, which was swallowed by the waters for several days. Odíhg Li̊shlom lost 134 people, 294 livestock, and 35 buildings in the disaster. The disaster is remembered as the Suffering Drownings.
